Jaime Macias

As the Vice Provost of Strategic Operations, Dr. Jaime (Jay) is responsible to the JSOU President and Provost for the university's organizational alignment, prioritization of resources, and execution of the battle rhythm.  Dr. Macias leads JSOU's personnel (government and contracting), information/education systems, financial resources, logistics, security, and strategic engagements & communications departments.

Dr. Macias works closely with USSOCOM Directors to ensure that JSOU's academic activities support the USSOCOM Commanding General's priorities – PEOPLE, WIN, TRANSFORM. Prior to arriving at JSOU, Dr. Macias served as the Senior Program Analyst with the Operations Directorate (J3), USSOCOM, where he oversaw the Amphibious Ready Group/Marine Expeditionary Unit Special Operations Forces Liaison Element (ARG/MEU SOFLE) Program. Dr. Macias previously served as the Chief of Plans at U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command, Commander of Marine Wing Communications Squadron-28, and strategic planner in the Operations Directorate (J3) and Commanders Actions Group of U.S. Central Command.

Dr. Macias also served in the Marine Corps for over 31 years (22 as an officer and 9 enlisted). Dr. Macias deployed numerous times in support of Operations SHARP EDGE, DESERT SHIELD and DESERT STORM, IRAQI FREEDOM, and ENDURING FREEDOM.

A native of Queens, New York, Dr. Macias graduated from The Citadel in 1996 with a bachelor's in political science. He later earned three master's degrees in strategic, operational art, military studies, and computer information systems. He completed his Doctorate at Southeastern University, specializing in Educational Leadership.
