Leveraging Social Media Intelligence and Open-Source Intelligence for AI-Driven Predictive Analytics in Irregular Warfare
In an era of persistent irregular conflict, social media intelligence (SOCMINT) has evolved as a subdiscipline of open-source intelligence (OSINT). As hybrid threats expand to include both attributed and non-attributed gray-zone actors, there are substantial implications when it comes to AI predictive analytics, narrative forecasting, and the follow-on analysis to support policymakers and operations personnel. How do these intelligence domains inform AI-driven predictive systems in support of special operations, psychological operations, counterinsurgency, and countering violent extremism missions? This occasional paper explores operational frameworks, methodological integration, and implications for irregular warfare practitioners while addressing challenges including adversarial manipulation, information authenticity, and ethical governance in complex operational environments.
